Hydroseeding
Hydroseeding is a fast and cost-effective way to establish a high-quality lawn for new homes, acreages, commercial developments, and erosion control projects. A mixture of grass seed, mulch, fertilizer, and soil-conditioning amendments is applied in a slurry using specialized equipment, creating ideal conditions for grass to germinate and establish quickly.
Compared to traditional seeding methods, hydroseeding offers faster germination, better moisture retention, and more uniform coverage — helping your lawn establish evenly across the entire area.
Why Choose Hydroseeding?
Hydroseeding is often the best option when installing a new lawn over large areas.
Benefits include:
- Faster germination than conventional broadcast seeding
- Even distribution of seed and nutrients
- Excellent moisture retention from the mulch layer
- Cost-effective compared to installing sod
- Ideal for acreages, new construction, and large residential lawns
- Effective for erosion control and soil stabilization
Under ideal conditions, grass typically begins to germinate within 4–7 days, with the first mowing often occurring within about a month.
Process
We prepare a custom slurry in our hydroseeding tank consisting of:
- High-quality grass seed blends
- Water
- Mulch for moisture retention
- Starter fertilizer
- Soil conditioning amendments and biostimulants (if specified)
This mixture is blended inside the tank and applied evenly across the prepared soil surface using specialized hydroseeding equipment.
Once applied, the mulch layer helps protect the seed while retaining moisture and reducing erosion. As the seed germinates, the mulch gradually breaks down and becomes part of the soil.
Prices
Hydroseeding costs vary depending on several factors including:
- Size of the area
- Seed blend selected
- Site access
- Water availability
- Soil preparation requirements
Our minimum charge is $800, which typically covers areas up to approximately 250 m². Larger projects are priced based on area and site conditions.
